As legend has it, one day he tried on a new shirt where the manufacturer had used two-side tape to keep the collar in place. Once Golf Pride purchased enough of the same “Miracle” tape to meet the needs of its customers, the slip-on rubber grip was ready for mass consumption.

As the basic slip-on rubber grip was made available to tour and club professionals throughout the US and abroad, demand for the product skyrocketed. It was about the same time Golf Pride also created its famous Victory grip, that black grip with the unique aqua paint-fill and hand alignment guides. The modern version was sold up to 2004, while a variation can be found today in the V-55 model. To this day, it remains the most popular grip sold in history.
