The Making of a Golf Grip

For the average golfer, the grip is probably the least-respected of all of the golf club components. While many golfers know that they need to replace their grips every so often, generally it is the club head and shaft that gets all the attention. The grip just quietly goes about its job of providing the traction and comfort to the player.

Perhaps the reason is the grip appears to be so simple. Typically made from some type of rubber compound with painted lines, the grip is a relative uncomplicated component – at least to the unknowing consumer or clubmaker. In reality, however, manufacturing and supplying the round rubber products to clubmakers and golf club manufacturers throughout the world is quite an undertaking that requires around-the-clock efforts of the world’s grip suppliers.
